With its cult following status, the Blue Oval’s Torino series is usually a big hit with collectors. Highly popular models mostly involve the Gran Torinos appearing in successful blockbusters (remember the green 1972 Ford Gran Torino Sport from Fast & Furious 4?) or alongside names like Clint Eastwood. But that’s not all, because the fame can also go deeper.
For the second generation (coming to life in 1970), the Torino was available in a large number of versions, including two-door sedan, hardtop, fastback, and convertible or four-door sedan, hardtop, and station wagon. Still, a true connoisseur will actively disregard these Torinos if they don’t have the magical “Cobra Jet” attached to them.

And the performance Torino Cobra had just one variant – the 2-door SportsRoof. This particular 1970 Ford Torino listed for sale for $84,900 by Cars Remember When easily fits the desired bill, thanks to its associated “429 Super Cobra Jet Drag Pack” designation.

It’s a very rare 1970 Ford Torino, and not just because of the Blue Oval’s well-known reliability issues at the time (rust and peeling paint after just a few years). It’s uncommon precisely because of the Drag Pack 429 V8 engine, and the upcoming owner will be happy to see there are no signs of decay anywhere (both inside and outside, or even underneath).

This is thanks to the car having been lovingly cared for and carefully upgraded. Seriously, the attention to detail is nothing short of amazing (considering the well-known issues), and the Torino even comes with all its original factory parts in the trunk.

Speaking of the updates, these include a Gear Vendors overdrive unit, four-wheel disc brakes, headers, as well as an aftermarket Holley carburetor. Meanwhile, the listing also mentions the car’s stock exhaust manifolds, carburetor, driveshaft, and transmission tail shaft are offered along with the Torino.

Cruising in this Cobra Jet-powered 1970 Torino should be a blast thanks to the Gear Vendors upgrade, which even allowed the owner to retain the car’s original 3.91 rear gear ratio. And it’s also going to attract a crowd anywhere it's parked, thanks to the black hood, blue metallic body, and contrasting black vinyl/knit bucket seats residing inside.
