Boss-engined Mustangs are seen by many as the incarnation of performance in the early years of American muscle. Introduced as a weapon in the growing war against the Camaro, the Boss engine quickly proved its worth, whether as the 302 or the more powerful 429, and both on the track and on the road.
The 302 was initially fitted on Mustangs for the 1969 and 1970 model years, and the Blue Oval later tried a revival in the early 2010s. But it is the original variant of the engine that remains incredibly sought after by collectors. Auctions and specialized websites are filled with Boss 302 Mustangs, each of them bringing something unique or special to the mix.

In the case of the 302 we have here, it is the way it is specced that makes it unique. According to records, this Mustang is the only one to have been specced with yellow paint, Black Rhino/Corinthian vinyl bucket seats, rear deck spoiler, console, power steering, AM radio, tachometer, and special belted tires with raised white letters.

We are talking of course about a restoration, one that tried to be as faithful to the original as possible. With the exception of the 15-inch wheels with Goodyear Polyglas GT F60x15 tires, which are reproductions, the builders managed to do exactly that and came up with the stunning looks of the machine.

Most importantly, the crew managed to keep all that makes the car tick, namely the original matching-numbers Boss 302 V8 engine, coupled to the original matching-numbers 4-speed close-ratio manual transmission.

As most other Mustangs 302s out there, this one too is for sale, and it will go under the hammer later in May as part of a Barrett-Jackson online auction being held then. The car is listed for sale with reserve, and no estimate on how much it is expected to fetch has been made.
