Before the Pontiac brand succumbed to the deathblow of General Motors' bailout, this blast from the past made some sweet road-going machines. Other than the Bonneville, Star Chief, and Judge, the Trans Am scores high in the hearts and minds of gearheads. If exclusivity is what you want from your Trans Am, look no further than the model on hand.
Believe it or not, this 1969 Pontiac Trans Am Ram Air IV is one of 9 examples ever produced and one of only 2 manufactured with a column-shifted automatic transmission. With a white exterior enhanced by blue go-faster stripes and sweet 1960s styling, this Trans Am was a truly coveted machine more than 45 years ago. It's even more desirable today, as it prepares to go on the auction block at Mecum's Denver sale.

Other than the ultra-rare drivetrain combination and the factory correct Cameo White paint job with blue stripes, this Trans Am features an original blue interior with bucket seats for good measure. While it may appear to be an average-looking Ram Air IV to the untrained eye, this particular example packs the visual punch other Trans Am models could only dream of having.

The period correct Goodyear Polyglas tires are the element that seal the exterior goodies in our book. Other interesting visual elements include the Formula steering wheel and the way the steel/fiberglass Ram Air IV hood looks like when seated behind the steering wheel. After a nut-and-bolt restoration in the 1990s and an overhaul by Level One Restorations in 2010, the 400 cu. in. V8 should be churning out roughly 345 HP.

Being a 1969 Ram Air IV Automatic Trans Am Coupe, this Ponti boasts Rally II wheels, power front disc brakes, power steering with external cooler, and an aluminum intake manifold. All things considered, the tastiness of this old-timer should get a few people excited at the Denver auction on June 26th.
