There are a bunch of old 4-door cars that we think are cool, but it's always the 2-door models from the 1960s that get the most attention. Still, if the Dodge Charger ever had a wagon version like this, it would have become a restomod hero.
What happened to the American wagon? How did it go from being popular and rich in features to a footnote? We want the Dodge Magnum back, and this probably would have happened already if the Charger was available with a nice rear hatch and some extra doors.
Right now, the Charger is one of the few true American sedans left. Though its platform is pretty old, an abundance of V8 power makes it an appealing machine. But back more than half a century ago, this was the coolest kid on the block a 2-door with Coke bottle muscle car looks.
We've seen plenty of people toying with the idea of a Charger wagon. Renderings are abundant but have even created real-life conversions. Taking inspiration from this, wb.artist20 transformed a 1969 model into something that's undeniably cool, but never existed.
It's awesome to imagine something like this, still a muscle car, but with a long roof and easier access to the rear seats. It would make a good family car for the weekend cruises. Obviously, there are things worth pointing out here. For example, this Charger wouldn't be as practical as a real wagon from that era. The doors would be smaller, and windows wouldn't be able to go down all the way at the back.
Also, this is based on a fully-custom car. It's the "Defector" by Ringbrothers. Revealed at the 2017 SEMA Show, it took 4,700 hours of work to make and had two inches chopped from its length. Also, the rear wheels are gigantic, so there's not much room back there.
