Back in 1969, those interested in a new Chevrolet Camaro could choose from four different configurations, starting with the base model accounting for over 150,000 units out of the total production of more than 243,000.
Needless to say, the base 1969 Camaro was the most common, and there are plenty of them still out there these days, either in tip-top shape after a full restoration or in project car condition.

The Camaro RS was the second most common, with close to 38,000 units produced in 1969, while the SS came pretty close with nearly 35,000 examples built for the year.

The fourth and the rarest Camaro built in 1969 was the Z/28, as Chevrolet manufactured some 20,300 units equipped with a 302ci (4.9-liter) engine developing 290 horsepower and paired with a Muncie 4-speed transmission.

The ’69 Camaro you see here is one of these Z/28s built 52 years ago, only that the car has already received a restoration during the 2000s, according to the car's owner.

And while we won’t focus too much on what eyes can see because this Camaro does come in a pretty nice condition, the most interesting tidbit is the engine powering the car.

The restored Z/28 is powered by a DZ 302 engine whose origins are unknown, so it’s not a matching-numbers model but a period correct unit.

The overhaul shop did confirm that it was a standard 4-inch bore when they overhauled it. It was bored to .030 over to clean up the cylinder walls. The block was in such good condition that it did not need to be decked. They confirmed it was the first overhaul of this engine. They suggested that the engine could have been a warranty or other replacement from long ago. But it is a complete engine ‘real deal’ 302DZ with the familiar block date stamp and DZ stamp from Chevy on the right front cylinder plain area,” the owner explains.

The current mileage of the car is unknown, but the owner explains some 700 miles (1,120 km) have been added since the engine overhaul.

Listed on eBay by seller boeing717driver, the Camaro has so far received two bids, with the highest exceeding $60,000. The reserve hasn’t been met at the time of writing.
