Now underway in Las Vegas, the SEMA show is the place where all the tuning gods have gathered to show their latest exploits. And with so many exciting cars on the floor of the local Convention Center, it’s very hard to choose a favorite.
There are however some machines that stick out more than others. For muscle car enthusiasts, the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro engineered by Ringbrothers is one of those that turn heads.
As most other projects now showing at SEMA, the car, named Valkyrja by its makers, has been designed as a shop window of sorts for the parts Ringbrothers is selling to tuners across the U.S. But what a nicely-dressed shop window it is!
Rebuilt with new parts, the body of the car features a wealth of carbon fiber parts, but also some that where 3D-printed or CNC-machined.
The real magic in the Valkyrja takes place under the hood, where the tuners hid a bright-red 416-cubic inch Wegner Motorsports LS3 engine. Supercharged by a 2.9-liter Whipple unit, the powerhouse can deliver about 890 horsepower, making the Camaro one of the most powerful now on display in Sin City.
The engine is controlled by a six-speed Tremec, “reworked to support the extreme horsepower. “ No performance figures were provided for the pumped-up Camaro, but at least we can enjoy the looks of it in the very extensive gallery available above.
“We try and top ourselves every year, and this build was no different,” said in a statement Mike Ring, co-owner of Ringbrothers.
“This build was unlike anything we had attempted before, both in design and execution. The result is a car with a classic look but entirely modern underpinnings, materials and technology. It's the perfect mix of style and performance.”
