This obviously all depends on your relationship with your accountant, but, generally, $1,800 is a hefty sum for a Christmas present. On the other hand, if what you’re shooting for is a classic Mustang, the aforementioned amount might seem like pocket change. Or does it?
One American car enthusiast spend that exact amount of money to offer himself what may just be the best Christmas present ever, namely a 1968 ‘Stang.
Unsurprisingly, it all started with a Craigslist ad, which, as it happens on many occasions of this retro kind, was rather deceptive.
Upon closer inspection, the new owner discovered the engine had been disassembled. Still, the man found an extra motor inside the car and while that may not be in perfect condition, the seller agreed to help with tools and know-how for rebuilding the hardware under the hood.
As for the worst side of the story, this can be found inside the Mustang. The cabin is a complete mess, so the pony will need more attention in this area than anywhere else.
The man shared his story on Reddit and has the goal to get the car in running order and painted by October 2015, when he wants to attend a local car show.
Of course, when you grab one of these ponies for so little money, the adventure either leads to the experience of your life or can easily ruin your life, it all depends on how well you plan the restoration or restomod job. A budget? You can be certain you’ll blow your initial estimate.
