1967 Ford Mustang by Carlex Has Carbon Fiber and Alcantara Interior

Classic Ford Mustangs are a pretty rare thing across the pond, especially in Central Europe where Carlex Design is located. However, these famed interior customizers have not only found a mint 1967 'Stang, but also covered it in exotic materials like carbon fiber and Alcantara leather.

The 67 is already the coolest body style of that era. Most of its exterior appeal has been polished further by a full restoration. A deep navy blue makes all the chrome stand out even more. But there's nothing on the outside of the Fastback that lets you know how much the interior has been changed.

Carlex was careful to preserve the original appeal of the car by keeping visible metal parts like the steering wheel, window winders, and gear shifter. However, everything else belongs to the 21st century.

Carbon fiber has been used without concern for the price of this exotic material. For example, we see it on the top and the bottom of the door cards and flanking the rear seats.

The dash is also made from carbon fiber, right down to the instrument binnacle and the part that houses the radio. But our favorite components is the steering wheel, which is designed like a modern version of the classic wood ones common in that era.

The leatherwork, which is Carlex's specialty, also has a unique flavor. The overall design reminds us of the Ford GT40, and that's a good thing. They've wrapped pretty much everything, from the roof liner to the steering wheel column. The sharp edge of the dash in combination with some contrast stitching exudes modernity. The only thing it needs is an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay.

Nothing we see here is groundbreaking, but the way in which Carlex put the bits together just works. Even the luggage set matches the cabin, so all the Mustang needs now is to be loved by an owner as much as an Eagle E-Type or Singer Porsche 911.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
