1966 Corvette Found in a Bakery Looks Like Someone Opened the Oven Too Late

If you’re in the market looking for a project car and want something you don’t see too often, how about a Corvette that spent the last 35 years locked in the basement of a bakery?

This is exactly the case of the 1966 model you see here, with the owner of the car now listing it on eBay for an auction that’s supposed to come to an end this weekend.

While there’s a good chance it doesn’t come with the scent of hot coffee and just-baked croissants, this Corvette still sports several tidbits that are at least worth checking out.

According to the owner, the car is still solid overall, but on the other hand not the same thing can be said about the frame. As you can easily tell by just checking out the photos in the gallery here, the Corvette really had a hard time dealing with the conditions in that basement.

Sitting for 35 years in a damp environment obviously isn’t easy for a piece of metal, and this Vette is just the living proof in this regard. There’s plenty of rust on the car, but on the other hand, the seller claims everything can be fixed, though this is something you’ll have to look into in person.

The body looks somewhat decent, though it too comes with a series of pros and cons. There are several dents here and there, and these are allegedly caused by “moving it around and banging into things.” This means the car has never been involved in an accident, and the damage you see here is actually the result of the Corvette hitting other objects in the basement where it spent the last three decades.

As for the engine, the original unit is no longer there, but the seller says they’re offering a 350ci (5.7-liter) with the car. By the looks of things, this V8 isn’t complete either, so if you’re looking to restore the Corvette to factory specifications, you’d have to look elsewhere for an original engine.

The price of the Chevy is something the Internet will have to decide, as the Corvette is listed for auction on eBay, and the highest bid at the time of writing is $20,000. The reserve, however, hasn’t been met.
