If you’ve always wanted to say “I’ve got a Pontiac Banshee, it looks like an old Corvette, but it’s the only one like it in the world,” we’ve got good news for you guys. The one-off 1964 Pontiac Banshee Corvette prototype is up for grabs on eBay right now.
We’ve also got bad news for our less well to do readers, because the “Buy It Now” price is a whopping three quarters of a million dollars, yes that’s $750,000. Built on the Corvette chassis, the XP-833 project was meant as a way for Pontiac to offer a rival for the Ford Mustang, but the idea was scrapped and the two Banshee prototypes were ordered to be scrapped.
But this one survived and was sold by GM to a private individual. According to The New York Times, the car is now in the possession of en Napoli, a longtime Pontiac collector, who purchased the car for $210,600 in 2006. Knowing that, we’re not that sure it will exchange hands for this much money.
