Famous auction house RM Auctions joined forces with Sotheby’s and stunned the market last week, orchestrating an unbelievable auction in the Big Apple that broke 11 world records.
Amongst them, there was a 1958 BMW 507 Series II Roadster that sold for no less than USD1,650,000 (EUR1,221,700), setting a new world record for a 507 Roadster.

However, that wasn’t the only car that impressed the audience. The auction generated USD62,797,500 of sales in just two hours of bidding, whilst a 1964 Ferrari 250 LM by Carrozzeria Scaglietti sold for no less than USD14,300,000 climbing on the number 3 spot of the most expensive cars sold at an auction.

The whole event saw interventions from people coming from 17 countries worldwide and 93 percent of all cars sold went to international buyers.

"Working with Sotheby's, we set out to create the finest automobile auction that there has ever been. Our aim has been to raise the bar and set a completely new standard for quality and presentation, and I am delighted to say that these amazing results have proven it a great success,” Rob Myers, CEO and Founder of RM Auctions, said.

Other rare European cars that went on sale include a 1954 Maserati A6G/2000 Spyder by Carrozzeria Zagato, a 1936 Delahaye Type 135 Competition Court Teardrop Coupe by Carrosserie Figoni et Falaschi, a 1933 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Sports Coupé by Freestone & Webb, and the 2011 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Bleu Nuit.
