The second-generation Ford F-Series is one cool-looking truck. Sleeker than the first iteration and not as boxy as the versions that followed, the mid-1950s hauler looks like a hot-rod with a bed. And things become a lot more interesting when they become restomods with big power under the hood.
This 1955 F-100 is a fine example of what you can do with a second-gen truck. Yeah, it looks beat up with that peeling paint that lost its luster long time ago, but the rat rod appearance is downright perfect for these kind of trucks. And don't let the "barn find" look fool you, this thing hides a monster of an engine under that plain hood.

You can also tell that it's not your regular 1955 factory truck as soon you see the modern wheels and the extremely low suspension. This thing drives on its belly with a quarter of the wheels hiding under the fenders. But let's get down to the oily bits, because that's where all the magic happens.

Ford offered the second-gen F-Series with a variety of inline-six and V8 engines. The straight-six was no slouch at 101 horsepower, but the Y-block V8s were pretty potent, delivering from 130 horsepower in 1954 to a whopping 300 horses in 1956, its final production run.

Well, this truck no longer features the original mill. Whatever was under the hood when it left the factory was ditched in favor of a modern, 5.0-liter Coyote V8. On top of that, the folks over at Texas Speed Lab Performance dropped a procharger for extra oomph. It also features an assortment of Mustang and aftermarket parts. Unfortunately, the owner didn't say how much oomph comes out of that assembly, but you can bet it's more than any factory Ford truck ever had.

Amazingly enough, the F-100 still rides on its factory frame, but the entire suspensions system has been swapped out. There's a front suspension from a Crown Victoria sedan, while the rear came from a 2015 Mustang. Stopping power is provided by Brembo brakes, a mandatory upgrade given the beefed-up mill.

There's not a whole lot of driving footage or quarter-mile runs, but the video ends with the truck doing a few burn outs. It can definitely burn rubber and it sounds fantastic too. Check it out below.
