1953 Triumph Tiger T100 Stolen in 1967 Found and Returned

They say it's better late than never, and these words may be right. Here's a story which kind of supports this truth, even though in a somewhat funny way. An 1953 Triumph bike was reported stolen in Omaha, Neb in 1967.

In a completely mysterious way the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at the Los Angeles-Long Beach port came across this British jewel and seized immediately. It was restored and also got some modifications and was heading for Yokohama, Japan.

The bike was listed for $9,000 in the border papers, but if the rightful owner decides to sell it, the old triumph might bring him up to $16,000, according to Bikernet. Which could be far compensation for all this time, especially as the uninsured bike was worth $300 in February 1967.

No arrests have been made so far, and the former owner, now 72 was reunited with his machine.
