Bringing back to life pickup trucks from decades ago, in new forms and with new capabilities, is mostly a North American affair because, well, Americans have always loved pickups. Everybody on the continent knows that, including the quiet neighbors to the north.
The Crystal Red Pearl 1952 Chevrolet 3100 we have in the gallery above is the creation of a Canadian garage from New Brunswick called Cook Performance. The truck was completed in 2019, at the end of 2,200 hours of work and a six-figure investment, and it is now for sale.
Built on a Heidts chassis, the truck stays true in overall shape and form to the Advance-Design series introduced by the carmaker after the end of the second world war, but adds all the extra touches to make it a car of its time.
The very sculpted body of the truck, with its muscular hood and fenders, Charcoal grille, and polished bumpers, no longer hides the original inline-six, but a fourth-generation GM 6.0-liter LS in V8 configuration.
Linked to a Tremec 6-speed transmission, the engine develops 423 hp and 364 lb./ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels. There, the ponies are handled through a posi-traction differential fitted inside a Camaro-sourced 10-bolt rear axle.
The exciting exterior look of the car is sadly contrasted by what we see as a poor choice of color for the leather fitted on the TMI bench, door panels, and steering wheel. The garage went for Tobacco, and it just doesn’t seem to fit in well with the rest of the car.
If you can get passed that, though, you should know the 1952 Chevrolet 3100 is fitted with all the modern gadgets, from a Kenwood audio system to air conditioning and a Bluetooth CD-player.
As said, this custom truck is now for sale, and it is listed on the Classic Cars website at $189,900.
