It's been quite some time since we last showed you a wrap from the Russians at Re-Styling. A couple of years ago, everybody wanted to have a chrome BMW X6 or a mint green Lexus. However, people are bored with vinyl.
But there are two sides to this industry. On one hand, there are the people who simply want a bolder color on their car, and on the other there are those who want crazy graphics.
It doesn't get much crazier than wanting your Nissan GT-R to look like an owl. A lizard maybe, since the supercar killer has always been called Godzilla, but never an owl. Is the owner a fan of Bubo, the golden owl from 80's movie Clash of the Titans?
The first thing we need to tell you is that a lot of effort went into making this wrap. The shape of the car needed to be scanned and a pattern was printed on the computer. We don't think there's an online guide to making cars look like birds.
From the front, you see the animal's face and the wings stretched out as the doors are opened. Meanwhile, the back is covered in tail feathers.
As you may have already noticed, this isn't your typical GT-R. The vented bonnet and the titanium exhaust system give it away immediately as one of those tuned drag racing machines. The 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 has been tuned to somewhere around 1,800 horsepower.
From what we understand, the theme is a play on the name of the owner, Savinov. Sava means owl in Russian, and the wrap specialists at Re-Styling were asked to take things literally.
There are two views on what a racing car should look like. Some believe that it should be kept to a minimum, only the name of the racing teams and sponsors. Others are of the opinion that the car should be bright, memorable and extravagant. Guess they didn't go for the discrete option this time!
