The 1,000 hp milestone promoted by the Toyota Supra seem to have gone out of fashion as overly-tuned Lamborghini Gallardos are now the sickest rides you can get, pushing the limit closer to double the amount.
It will cost you a lot more than a fully-loaded 2JZ, but you also get a mid-mounted engine, four more pistons, lower stance, better looks and nicer interior. And lets not forget the amount of power you can get from them V10s.

The procedure with the Gallardo is pretty much the same as with the 2JZ, but instead converting the original bi-turbo to single turbo engine in the Supra, these guys are fitting normally aspirated V10s with a turbo for each bank of cylinders, turning them into twin turbo Lamborghinis. Sick!

Of course, nitrous oxide systems, forged pistons, bigger injectors and other hyper performance parts are added and these machines are usually boasting over 1,700 hp. It’s all fun and games until something goes wrong.

Like a turbo fail. This Underground Racing built orange Gallardo here in the video bellow is said to deliver over 1,800 horses and was racing against a similar green one, when disaster struck and one of its turbocharges blew into pieces and caught fire immediately. Luckily, the car had been fitted with an integrated fire system that extinguished the danger before igniting the whole engine bay.

It’s a shame, especially because the car accelerated from 60 to 207 mpg in around 1,700 feet, which would have been the new Texas Invitational world record.
