The Grand Cherokee SRT8 has become the most popular SUV platform in the drag racing realm, with plenty of examples of the Jeep delivering stunning performance. And we can now show you yet another monstrous example.
This Jeep recently took part in the Wannagofast half-mile event held in Ocala, Florida, with its aim being to hit the 200 mph mark.

Thanks to the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, you can check out the heavily modded Grand Cherokee SRT8 in action. Note that the clip also involves footage from a previous run of the high-riding velocity tool, one that saw the toy engaging in quarter-mile shenanigans - the thing managed to descend into the 8s arena.

The video also includes an interview with the owner and the aficionado kicks things off by mentioning the components of the vehicle that are still in factory state.

We're talking about the Mopar engine block, as well as the casings of the transmission and transfer case (the last two goodies actually feature hardware supplied by Paramount Performance). Oh, and let's not forget the fuel tank.

Now, the 428ci (that's 7 liters) V8 of the Jeep works with a monstrous turbo (we also seem to be dealing with a nitrous bottle) and an E98 fuel setup.

As for the output of the thing, this obviously depends on the boost level. Nevertheless, the owner mentions 1,500 horsepower at the wheels, hence the crankshaft approximation we dropped in the title above.

It's wort noting that the aim of clearing up the engine bay meant the electronics were relocated to the posterior of the vehicle, with a special panel being installed for this.

However, perhaps the most interesting side of this Grand Cherokee SRT8 is that the Jeep has remained street-legal. Sure, you might see it here in one-seater trim, but, when required, the thing can accommodate up to three passengers (four-person 190 mph trips, anybody?).
