I remember taking a shotgun ride in an Mk III Volkswagen Golf VR6 back in my highschool years. The 90s machine had the larger 2.9-liter engine, so there were 190 horses pushing me back in the seat. Back then, I couldn't imagine how such a toy would've felt if its motor had been gifted with a 76mm turbo, so there was no point thinking about a Golf packing two such forced induction mills.
Well, last year saw me coming across just such a contraption: a third-generation Golf that packed a pair of turbofed VR6s. We talked about the animal almost eleven years ago today and it looks like the machine has evolved steadily, but surely.

To be more precise, the Vee-Dub managed to hit 190 mph in the half-mile, with the feat having taken place earlier today, as the thing took part in the Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack.

For the record, the said velocity value can be considered a point from where insanity becomes normality. Oh, and if you're keeping track, you'll be reminded the car climed to 183 mph in a half-mile challenge that took place last year.

Note that each of the VR12 contraptions's engines delivers at least 720 ponies at the wheels, which is why the thing is estimated to pack around 1,600 crank hp.

Keep in mind that the machine packs an exhaust port for each corner, so it delivers a surround soundtrack, as if the driving experience wasn't engaging enough on its own.

Each of the units works with a dedicated sequential tranny, with this kind of box being the favorite one of drag racers.

We might just see the two-of-everything Golf being pushed even further and we'll return with more updates if these become available. Meanwhile, you can check out some photos from the said adventure in the post below.
