The Mazda has come a very long way from its standard form. The tons of engine work have led to an expansion of the front end, which is why this RX-8 comes with a nose that easily tips others about the performance it packs.
The vehicle has been completely reworked, with the suspension job alone requiring a monstrous amount of work. Still, even after seeing those ultra-fat drag radials at the back and all the visual clues that talk about the extra power, it’s difficult, if not impossible, to be prepared for the output of the thing, which sits at 1,600 hp.
And while that might not sound so extreme to GT-R owners who like to mod their cars and spend time at the drag strip, we have to explain that the low weight of this Mazda is just as important when it comes to pulling jaw-dropping passes.
This RX-8 tips the scales at 2,500 lbs (1,130 kg), with the heavy modification process having included a serious diet. The mix between such a low weight and the power mentioned above leads to 6-second passes.
Then there’s the soundtrack - it’s not often you get to listen to a voice such as the one of this RX-8, which sounds like a melange between a shotgun and a chainsaw. Heck, this thing should have an ear plug dispenser attached to its body, allowing spectators to protect themselves against its aural assault.
