In the world of supercars, the Nissan GT-R and the Lamborghini Gallardo couldn't be more different. However, when it comes to the aftermarket scene, these are the two main platforms tuners currently use to deliver astounding levels of horsepower.
The latest example of this comes from last month's TX2K16 drag racing event in Texas, with one of the races seeing a 1,600 hp Godzilla and a Raging Bull with over 2,000 hp duking it out on the drag strip.
While the hp difference between the two might seem enough to dictate the winner, you shouldn't let such numbers trick you - in the world of heavily modded beasts, you can't get a conclusion until the two get together and engage in a fight.
The Gallardo has now retired, with the tuning world starting to turn its attention towards the Huracan. In fact, a new world record connected to this Sant'Agata Bolognese machine has recently been set. So far, Underground Racing has offered us the most intense Huracan twin-turbo action, whether we're talking about all-out hp madness or dual-clutch setups that also offer streetability.
As for the GT-R, while Nissan has recently introduced the 2017 incarnation of the supercar, we are now in the midst of a war that aims to set a new quarter mile world record for Godzillas. And yes, TX2K16 did have a lot to do with this. However, when discussing such matters, the power could climb all the way to 3,000 horses.
While the record used to sit with AMS Performance, it was grabbed by Katar-based EKanoo Racing, but the US developer has used the Texan drag racing event for the shakedown of its latest machine, the Alpha G, which promises to bring the title back home.
In this case, the battle saw the Lambo and the GT-R using a rolling start, with the GT-R driver having to defend his Lamborghini-attacking vanity plate.
