Anybody who’s driven a Honda S2000 knows the pressure you feel when you’re racing another fast car in this JDM delight and reach a long straight. The S2K might be one of the best contraptions that the 2000s have gifted us with, but this is the kind of sportscar that needs to show others who’s boss.
Well, today we’re back with quite the opposite of that, an S2000 that is here to avenge all its stock siblings that have fallen on the drag racing front.

What we have here is nothing less than the world’s fastest Honda S2000, with the criteria on which the title is based being the quarter mile run.

Interestingly, this S2000 still packs its factory block, albeit using the 2.2-liter version of the engine. Codenamed F22C1, the unit has a capacity of 2.157cc, delivering 237 hp and 160 lb-ft (220 Nm) of twist in factory stock condition.

Still, the mods required to bring the output to such a level meant the car had to get a serious nose job, as accommodation doesn’t come easy.

In an attempt to find a replacement for displacement, this S2000 sees its engine using an 82mm turbo. When running at 36 psi, this allows the four-cylinder mill to churn out 1,330 hp, as measured on the dyno.

However, the setup used for the record-setting run sees the turbo working at 48 psi, which means we are dealing with an output of up to 1,600 hp.

As a result, this S2000 managed to complete the 1,320-foot sprint in a jaw-dropping 7.1 seconds at 192.93 mph (311 km/h). That’s right, a bit of extra work will bring this Honda S2000 into the 6-second league. Admittedly, shaving 0.1s off your run when you’re playing at this level isn’t exactly facile.

In the process of setting a new world record, this S2000 delivered a set of hefty wheelies. Once again, this isn’t something we’ve learned to associate with the Japanese roadster.
