The police set up around 40 checkpoints in places around the town known to be the meeting grounds for riders. The action is part of a program aiming to reduce the injuries and deaths occurring among young riders.

We've seen countless videos of riders in India and Pakistan performing exceptional stunts while wearing no protective gear and being exposed to massive injuries which could easily lead to casualties, so we can only understand the Indian police concerns.

According to BikerNet, the India Gate area is the preferred place of stunt junkies, and terrible accidents have happened there in the past, resulting in injuries and even loss of human lives. The lack of elementary protective gear and underage motorcycle operators are said to be the main causes for the injuries and deaths. Reportedly, 23 bikes have also been impounded.
