The McLaren 720S is a supercar that can punch into hypercar territory and a facile manner to showcase the potential of the Woking machine is to take this to drag racing events. For instance, the battle that brought us here involves such a Macca battling a Nissan GT-R.
Of course, the standard Godzilla wouldn't stand a chance against the British supercar, which is why this R35 had been taken down the aftermarket route.

We're talking about a serious build here, as, for instance, the position of the turbos has been changed - the factory turbo location limits the horserpower. Long story short, this Nissan GT-R now allows its driver to control 1,250 horsepower and might offer even more muscle.

As for the 720S, this came to the velocity brawl in standard form - keep in mind that, as independent dyno tests have shown, the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 of the Brit actually develops over 750 horses at the crank.

Now, the McLaren 720S has built a solid reputation for leaving tuner cars with four-digit outputs trailing in its wake, but will this be the case here?

The answer comes from the piece of footage below. This was recorded in Russia, where the two supercars battled as part of the Unlimited 500 championship, which is the highest tier of the country.

We're talking about a 1/2 mile here, so the maximum velocity is the one that decides the winner. Nevertheless, the clip also showcases the 1/4-mile numbers of the machines, so you can get a clear view of the battle. For the record, the 720S was pretty close to its best 1/2-mile top velocity.

As for the uninspiring reaction times of both drivers (the first numbers in the table), these might be due to the hooners waiting for the turbos to spool.

Now, the battle between the McLaren 720S and the Nissan GT-R awaits you at the 1:37 point of the clip, but you should know the video also shows the first duking it out with a pair of Ferraris, namely a 488 GTB and an 812 Superfast.
