The Russians have organized yet another fabulous drag race, between the 1,200 horsepower Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 and a Porsche 911 Turbo S belonging to the 991 generation. The Stuttgart supercar has also been tuned, as the flat-6's output has gone up from 560 to 650 PS.
Of course, there aren't any 1,200 hp twin-turbo SRT8 engines. Otherwise, the Hellcat could probably humiliate a Veyron. This is strictly a custom V8 setup, one which has to overcome the brick-like aerodynamics of the old Jeep.
Even though the output of its 6.1-liter V8 has been increased almost three times, the Jeep is still at a huge weight disadvantage. Because of all the all-wheel drive bits, it tips the scales at nearly 2.2 tons while the Turbo S is only 1.6 tons.
SRT fans will be happy with the outcome of the race and say that it proves displacement and power overcome everything, including money. Porsche owners will counter them by saying the 911 is a precision tool and backs its acceleration with awesome handling. However, all we want now is to see a drag race between a Lamborghini supercar and a Lamborghini tractor with 40,000 hp… or something.
