No less than 11 screes and a titanium plate have been removed from the collarbone of Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo, during a surgery performed earlier this week.
This is the second plate which kept Lorenzo's collarbone together after the crashes in Asses and Sachsenring. Now left without the screws, the bone can fully heal and full strength will be restored soon.
The 26-year-old Spaniard also had a small surgical procedure performed on his right thumb, adding the "finishing touches" for completely healing an injury sustained back in 2010.
"Surgeons Dr. Joaquin Rodriguez, Dr. Ana Carreras and Dr. Marc Cots carried out the operation on Lorenzo at the Hospital General de Catalunya, in Sant Cugat just outside Barcelona, with the rider’s personal doctor, Teresa Sola, also in attendance," motogp.com reports.
The Cobra was released from the hospital on Tuesday after spending the night in, and will undergo another check-up before the end of the month. Lorenzo will resume full training early in 2014 and start preparing for the official tests at Sepang.
