Toyota has milked the teasing cow for long enough, with the company talking about the arrival of the MK V Supra ever since 2012, when it started working on the sportscar. And with the debut of the newcomer imminent, we now want to bring the Mk IV Supra back under the spotlights.
Of course, the Supra has remained in the attention of the motoring world thanks to its tuning-friendly nature. And today we're here to show you one of the Toyotas that has climbed to the top of the street car hierarchy.

According to the owner of the Japanese machine, the 2JZ setup under the hood now delivers almost 1,000 horsepower, hence the approximation in the title above.

Now, the monstrous coupe has recently attended a drag racing event, where the toy got to pick on something its own size. To be more precise, the thing got to battle an Mk V Volkswagen Golf R32.

The said German compact had also been brought close to the 1,000 horsepower output. And that's because its VR6 motor now works with a Garrett GTC42 turbo.

While the Supra has retained its rear-wheel-drive form, we can say the same thing about the Vee-Dub, which still comes with all-paw hardware.

Now, before you build any expectations on the AWD setup giving the Golf the edge during the initial phase of the race, you should know the two went for a rolling start.

In fact, the drag race we're referring to saw the hostilities kicking off at 50 km/h, while the battle lasted for a full kilometer.

As is the norm, the variable that wins the race is the trap speed delivered at the end of the run. Fortunately, the piece of footage showcasing the adventure also allows you to check out the velocity numbers delivered by the two.

Oh, and we also mention that the said Golf R32 also got to drag race a Mercedes-AMG E63 S, as well as an F10-generation BMW M5.
