With less than three weeks left until the 2013 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance opens its doors, more and more interesting vehicles are announced as part of the show. We’ve just learned that Cadillac will debut a new concept car in California, and now we found out that Galpin Auto Sports will storm the event with a 1,000 HP supercar.
Dubbed Galpin Ford GTR1, this ludicrous piece of machinery is based on the 2004-2006 Ford GT and sports a twin turbo 5.4-liter V8 powerplant that’s capable of 1,024 HP and 739 lb-ft of torque with a top speed estimated at more than 225 mph (362 km/h).
The company says the GTR1 will show up with a hand crafted all aluminum body, which makes it look more like Shelby’s GR-1 Concept, 20-inch forged aluminum knock-off wheels, Pirelli P-Zero tires, and six-piston brakes with carbon rotors. The cabin will receive a number of new features as well, including a machined aluminum instrument cluster, a McIntosh sound system, and leather trimmed seats, dash, door panels and headliner.
No word on prices or how many of these “extremely limited” GTR1 supercars will be built, but Galpin Auto Sports promises to reveal more at Pebble Beach. Stick around ‘cause this is going to be interesting.
