100 Years of Audi on the Donauring

German manufacturer Audi has set in place a special event to celebrate its 100 anniversary in Ingolstadt, on July 18, when the manufacturer will present "every vehicle that bears witness to Audi’s historic racing successes".

Among the vehicles present at the event (an event dubbed by Audi "a unique motor sport event for the local people") Audi will bring the 1934 Auto Union Type A, the Auto Union Type D with twin superchargers, Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO, Audi 200 quattro TransAm, Audi Rallye quattro A2, Audi Sport quattro S1, Audi Sport quattro S1 “Pikes Peak”, Audi V8 quattro DTM (GTC), Audi R8R, Audi R8 with “crocodile” paintwork, Audi R10 TDI, Audi R15 TDI, Audi A4 STW, Audi R8 LMS and the 2007-season Audi A4 DTM.

Of course, cars will not be the only ones there to honor Audi. Walter Rohrl (two times World Rally Championship winner), Hannu Mikkola (World Rally champion) and Harald Demuth (German Rally champion) will line up in their Audis for the event. And that's not all. Audi will bring along its current Le Mans drivers Allan McNish, Marco Werner and Lucas Luhr.

This is Audi’s centenary present to its fans in and around Ingolstadt. It’s not an event that’s likely to be repeated in the near future,” Thomas Frank, Audi Tradition head said in a release.

The German manufacturer awaits some 30,000 people to attend the celebration. Of course, entrance is free of charge, while the event will close no less than four streets in the city.
