There are burnouts, and then there are burnouts. And we don’t mean of the smoky or failed variety. Instead, let’s focus on what happens at a farm where daddy’s laid-back personality and great mechanical skills have turned him into a vlogger/car salvager adept at taking Holiday challenges... with a 10-year-old twist.
We have seen our fair share of burnouts. We have seen spectacular examples of mechanical mastery – including in the form of an F-100 capable of doing them with no driver on board (a.k.a. ghost burnouts). We have also seen (many) instances of attempts that ended up in failure and Internet glory.
But this one has an interesting twist to it, nonetheless. Derek, the (always) serene host of the Vice Grip Garage channel on YouTube, received a holiday challenge from one of his social media acquaintances - Ol' Peg from Zip Ties n' Bias Plies. As you may have guessed, it involves doing a burnout.
Because he is well known for such shenanigans, it appears his friend waited until “nothing is running around here, but that’s ok we’re going to figure it out.” That’s the spirit, so he proceeds on a tour of the farm surroundings to find something that’s adequate for the task.
More so, he also decides to do something different, as his 10-year-old son is with him, and he’s “gonna’ go ahead and just take the torch and pass it on to him and see if he can put on a smoke show.” The only problem is that his dedicated burnout car is missing parts, another great truck lacks an engine and transmission, and so on.
Of course, he does find something... adequate and a bit on the safe side for his youngster, as the beat-down white Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck only sports around 53 horsepower. The action starts from the 1:54 mark, with the skinny “Hoosier” tires burning rubber from the 2:21 mark.
And boy, the 10-year-old doesn’t stop making smoke in the garage; not when daddy checks him out while eating a sandwich (we said he’s laid back, that’s his setup for parent supervision), not even when Derek pulls the “Happy Holidays” card at the 3:55 mark. They did finally stop (4:16) to assess the damage after noticing a bit of overheating, with Derek saying afterwards “oh, it’s fine...”
