Independent Rear Suspension combines with an open front differential and a locked rear axle to give you precise handling and power to both rear wheels full time. New for 2017: dual-rate springs give you a smoother ride for all-day comfort, and there’s even a new Green color option.
This model is powered by a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 675cc engine, placing it in the big bore displacement class (650cc class and above).
The 9.2:1 compression ratio is 8% lower than the average utility Side by Side. A higher compression ratio is desirable because it means an engine can do the same amount of work with less fuel, leading to increased efficiency and power for a given engine size; high compression ratios are indicative of high performance.
Our rock-solid system lets you choose either 2WD or 4WD, giving you the freedom to choose between lighter steering (in 2WD) and maximizing available traction (in 4WD) when you need it most.
This Pioneer features independent, double wishbone front and rear suspension. As a bonus, the system is fully-adjustable.
In both the front and rear, travel is 5.9 in. The amount of travel up front means 21% less motion than the typical midsize sport-utility Side by Side. Furthermore, the rear suspension has 21% less than the norm in this segment. Extra suspension travel is very useful for hairy off-road scenarios, at the tradeoff of slightly less taut handling.
