HONDA NX 650 Dominator (1988-2003) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Honda NX650 Dominator was a popular dual-sport motorcycle manufactured by Honda from 1988 to 2003. The bike debuted in 1988 and was powered by a larger 644cc Single-cylinder engine than the one used on the XR600R.

The sales for the NX650 Dominator were not very profitable in the United States market, and the production stopped after two years in 1990. The European version sold well and made it through 2003.

The bike was part of the NX series in Honda's range, which included motorcycles of different displacement engines, such as the NX125, NX150, NX200, NX250, NX350, NX400, NX500, and NX650.

The NX650 Dominator had a single cradle steel frame with a 41 mm leading-axle fork with 200 mm travel operating the front suspension and a Pro-Link shock absorber with 195 mm travel handling the rear suspension.

The bike rolled on wire-spoke wheels and was fitted with a dual-piston caliper, a 256 mm disc on the front, and a single-piston caliper with a 220 mm disc on the rear, offering strong braking performance.

The 1988 Honda NX650 Dominator's power generator was a 644cc four-stroke air-cooled single-cylinder engine with 45 hp on tap at 6,000 rpm and 53 Nm (39 lb-ft) of torque at 5,000 rpm.

The engine was fitted with a five-speed manual transmission that took the engine power and sent it to the rear wheel through a chain drive, pushing the bike to a top speed of 161 kph (100 mph).
