HARLEY-DAVIDSON NIGHT ROD SPECIAL photo gallery

In 2017, the American motorcycle manufacturer launched the Harley-Davidson Night Rod Special, a cruiser motorcycle with a darkened appearance and massive performance characteristics.

The bike was first released in 2007 as a custom machine derived from the standard Night Rod that debuted in 2006 as a new hot rod-inspired machine manufactured around the renowned Revolution engine.

The Harley-Davidson Night Rod Special was part of the VRSC series that debuted in 1999. The V-Rods were the first motorcycles manufactured by Harley-Davidson that featured a liquid-cooled engine with overhead camshafts. They were often called muscle bikes due to their power output.

At the heart of the 2017 Harley-Davidson Night Rod Special lays a 1.247cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine with excellent performance capabilities, delivering 125 hp with a maximum peak force at 8,250 rpm and 115 Nm (85 lb-ft) torque at 7,000 rpm.

The sinister-looking machine was fitted with black-finished components, including the front fork, air box cover, exhaust pipes with brushed mufflers and black caps, fenders, frame, and the engine with polished cooling fins.

On every model, the fuel tank was under the seat, while in the usual tank location was a cover for the air box and liquid cooling filling cap. The 2017 model received new color options and several unique features.

In 2017, when it was launched, the bike had an MSRP of $17,849; in 2023, it was for sale with a price ranging between $12,000 to $13.000.

In 2017, Harley-Davidson launched the V-Rod Muscle, a cruiser machine with a sleek, radical drag-style appearance, while the power was coming from a renowned Revolution engine with massive performance.

Over its production period, the Harley-Davidson V-Rod Muscle remained essentially unchanged, except for color modifications. Some of the V-Rod Muscle's key features were represented by the 240 mm wide rear tire, the rear chopper-style rear fender with integrated LED lights, and the five-spoke cast-aluminum wheels with silver and black finish.

Compared to other models in the VRSC line, the V-Rod Muscle featured a dual exhaust system with a muffler on each side rather than the two-into-one-into-two with right-side-mounted mufflers.

The 2017 Harley-Davidson V-Rod Muscle took its thrust from a 1,247cc four-stroke V-twin liquid-cooled Revolution engine, managed by an electronically controlled fuel injection system. As for the power figures, the bike delivered an output power of 122 hp at 8,250 rpm and 117 Nm (86 lb-ft) torque at 6,500 rpm.

In the braking department, the motorcycle packed a triple-disc Brembo braking system with four-piston calipers, two 300 mm discs on the front, and a four-piston caliper with a 300 mm disc on the rear.

When it was released in 2017, the bike was sold with an MSRP between $17,599 and $17,999, depending on the color option. In 2023, the bike was for sale at an average retail price of $14,000.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON HERITAGE SOFTAIL CLASSIC photo gallery

The Heritage Softail Classic drips with the nostalgia of days gone by, but that’s only half of the equation for the rider of today. The hidden suspension gives you the authentic look without the bone-shaking ride of an old Hardtail. You get the comfort of cruise control for those long stretches of pavement. And best of all, the High Output Twin Cam 103B engine. We’re not about to re-invent this look. But we never stop re-inventing the ride.

full description and technical specifications
HARLEY-DAVIDSON SOFTAIL SLIM photo gallery

The air-cooled 45 V-Twin engine at the heart of every Softail model is a prime example of what makes a Harley-Davidson motorcycle more satisfying than anything else. Its clean, uncluttered shape fits perfectly in the downtubes of the frame. Twist the throttle and the surge of torque hits you exactly where it counts. The knowledge of what makes an engine truly move a rider runs deep at The Motor Company, and it’s been put to particular good use to power the Softail family. We counterbalance the engine, which means we can bolt it directly to the frame. It keeps the styling tight at the center of the bike. It lets the rider feel the pulse of the V-Twin. Yet there aren’t any vibrations rattling the fillings out of your teeth. The Softail family gets a power upgrade to the High Output Twin Cam 103B engine. More power is always a Harley-Davidson tradition.

The Evolution engine riding in the nimble Sportster frame is a prime example of the power, durability and proven reliability The Motor Company was built on. Born from the legendary Shovelhead and Ironhead engines, it’s been the power at the center of a Sportster motorcycle since 1984. Its overhead valve design and four-cam gear train have their roots in the company’s race program, and you know it when you feel the surge of brute torque that accompanies every twist of the throttle. The air-cooled V-Twin design with a compact one-piece crankcase/transmission fits the narrow Sportster profile like a fist in a fingerless glove. We began with a strong, trouble-free design. Then gave it constant refinement to bring us to the modern powerplant of today. A testament to the unwavering hunger for advancement in motor technology that has always driven Harley-Davidson.
