The 2002 MY Gas Gas SM 125 has, at its heart, a liquid-cooled, two-stroke, 124cc, single cylinder powerplant that was mated to a six-speed manual transmission, and can reach a maximum power output of 37 horsepower and 25 Nm of torque.

Also, it comes with features such as a race-inspired livery, a single seat, wide handlebars, laced wheels, an under-seat exhaust system, a 45mm Marzocchi upside-down telescopic fork coupled to an Ohlins monoshock with a progressive linkage in the rear, front and rear disc brakes and a steel frame with an aluminium swingarm.
