The Ducati ST series was a range of sport-touring machines produced from 1997 to 2007. The family comprised five models with similar appearances and different engines and were intended to compete with other sport-tourers like the Honda VFR.

The first motorcycle in the series was the Ducati ST2, released in 1997, the ST4 model was launched in 1999, followed by the ST4S in 2002, the ST3 in 2004, and the ST3S in 2006.

In 2004, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Ducati ST4S ABS, a sport-touring machine that came in the same package as the Ducati ST4S model but with an additional safety feature in the form of an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS).

In the visual department, the 2004 Ducati ST4S ABS came equipped with a full fairing, a single headlight, a windscreen, a one-piece dual seat with a passenger grab rail, a dual exhaust system, five-spoke lightweight alloy wheels, and optional matching side-mounted panniers.

The 2004 Ducati ST4S ABS had its soul brought to life by a 996cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine fed by a fuel injection system, boasting 117 hp with a peak force at 8,750 rpm and 98 Nm (72 lb-ft) torque at 7,000 rpm.

The engine was coupled to a six-speed manual transmission with a hydraulically controlled wet multi-plate clutch and a final chain drive that spun the rear wheel to a top speed of 249 kph (155 mph).
