The Ducati Hypermotard was first seen at the November 2005 EICMA Trade Show in Milan. It is a motorcycle designed by Pierre Terblanche and awarded as “Best of Show” at the said event.

The house of Borgo Panigale transformed the base 2013 Hypermotard into a beast with serious capabilities. In addition to what the 2013 model had, Ducati updated the 2014 model with a touring windscreen, touring seat with pillion grab handles, side luggage carriers, engine sump guard, extended front and rear mudguards, and a center stand.

In terms of power, the 2014 model runs on the same 821cc Testastretta L-Twin Desmodromic liquid-cooled powerplant as the predecessor, bursting out 110 hp of power at 9,250 rpm and 89 (66 lb-ft) of torque at 7,750 rpm. Attached to the engine, the model has a six-speed gearbox with a slipper and self-servo wet multi-plate clutch.

Like its predecessor, it uses the same tubular steel trellis frame that makes the bike more rigid and wears a 43mm USD fork on the front, and a progressive linkage with adjustable spring preload and rebound damping monoshock on the rear.

The 2014 model has a 10-spoke aluminum wheel front and back, married with a pair of Pirelli Scorpion Trail tires. The front wheel has two 320 mm semi-floating discs and a 245 mm disc on the rear. Both front and rear brakes are equipped with ABS 9MP as standard.

The 2014 Ducati Hyperstrada has 181 kg (399 lbs) dry weight.
