DUCATI 1198SP (2011-2010) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2011, the Italian motorcycle maker launched the Ducati 1198SP, a track-ready machine right from the factory floor. The SP model was an upgraded version of the standard 1198, fitted with cutting-edge, race-breed features.

The 2011 Ducati 1198SP, like the standard model, came equipped with a Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Quick Shifter (DQS), and Ducati Data Analyser (DDA). In addition, the SP version featured a rear Ohlins TTX suspension, a slipper clutch, and a lightweight aluminum fuel tank.

In the performance department, the bike packed the same 1198cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine as its predecessors, with a fuel injection system in charge, boasting 170 hp with maximum strength at 9,750 rpm and 132 Nm (97 lb-ft) torque at 8,000 rpm.

Equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, a slipper clutch, a final chain drive, and boasting 168 kg (370 lbs) dry weight, the 2011 machine reached 281 kph (175 mph).

The bike's suspension comprised a fully adjustable TiN-coated upside-down Ohlins telescopic fork on the front with 120 mm wheel travel and a fully adjustable Ohlins shock absorber on the rear with 127 mm wheel travel.

In the braking department, the 2011 Ducati 1198SP was equipped with two 330 mm semi-floating discs and four-piston calipers on the front wheel and a 245 mm disc with a dual-piston caliper on the rear wheel, delivering excellent stopping power.
