BMW S 1000 XR (2015-2019) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2014 at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy, BMW presented the S 1000 XR, a sport touring motorcycle made by BMW Motorrad. The S 1000 XR was marketed by the manufacturer as an Adventure Sport Bike, based on the S 1000 R with partial fairing. The XR was the fourth generation using the in-line four-cylinder engine, after the fully enclosed sport bikes S 1000 RR, HP4, and the S 1000 R. The BMW S 1000 XR was assembled at the Berlin BMW plant, and the production started in 2015.

The 2016 S BMW 1000 XR addresses those riders who want an all-terrain machine that can compete with mid-sized sports motorcycles. The model came with an Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and BMW Motorrad Race ABS, both standard features.

The 2016 model has its power from the 999cc four-stroke liquid-cooled engine working in tandem with a six-speed manual transmission sending the power to the rear wheel, with an output of 160 hp at 11,000 rpm and 113 Nm (83 lb-ft) of torque at 9,250 rpm.

For suspension, the model has a 46 mm upside-down telescopic fork on the front and a two-sided aluminum swingarm with adjustable rebound damping on the rear.

The 2016 BMW S 1000 XR was for sale in 2022, starting from $10,000.
