The 2023 BMW R 18 Roctane was the fifth member of the R 18 family, along with the R18, R 18 Classic, R 18 B, and R 18 Transcontinental. The new addition of the family brought with it a timeless design and combined it with state-of-the-art technology.

The bike offered a laid-back and relaxed riding position and was equipped with color-matched panniers of 27 liters each. In addition, for long-distance touring, the bike was available with an optional windscreen, auxiliary headlights, and suspended turn signals that were part of the Original BMW Motorrad Accessories range.

The highlights of the 2023 BMW R 18 Roctane were represented by iconic style with modern technology and authentic materials, the largest boxer engine, a high handlebar for optimum control and relaxed riding, top-end LED lighting technology in a classic-looking housing, and manually locking cases.

Other technical highlights included three riding modes, ASC, engine drag control, reversing aid, Hill Start Control, heated grips, alarm, Keyless Ride, Adaptive Headlight, and many optional accessories provided by the manufacturer.

The 2023 BMW R 18 Roctane packed the largest boxer engine with a 1,802cc displacement, air/liquid-cooled, and with two-cylinders, fed by an electronically controlled fuel injection system, boasting 91 hp at 4,750 rpm and 159 Nm (117 lb-ft) torque with a maximum peak at 3,000 rpm.

The 2023 R 18 Roctane was available with black paintwork as standard. The Mineral Grey Metallic Matt and Manhattan Metallic Matt color schemes were available as optional. The bike was sold with an MSRP of $18,695.
