APRILIA Tuono 1000 R (2009-2010) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2009, the Italian bike maker released the Aprilia Tuono 1000 R, a superbike in a street-naked guise in the fourth year of production, delivering the same specifications as previous models without significant modifications.

Some of the main features of the bike were the new V 60 Magnesium Evolution engine, Dynamic air intake, a 16-bit engine management unit, a three-way catalytic converter exhaust system with Lambda probes and oxygen sensors, an aluminum alloy perimeter frame, and a lighter steering yoke.

The bike's appearance was similar to previous models, packing standard features, such as an aggressive nose fairing, a single seat with a passenger seat cover, a dual exhaust system with a silencer mounted on each side, and forged aluminum spoke wheels.

The front end was guided by a 43 mm upside-down adjustable Showa fork with 120 mm wheel travel. In comparison, the rear end was softened by a dual-sided aluminum banana swingarm tied to an adjustable Sachs shock absorber with 130 mm wheel travel.

Braking-wise, the bike's 17-inch wheels were fitted with two 320 mm stainless steel floating discs on the front and a 220 mm stainless steel disc on the rear. Four-piston Brembo Gold calipers acted on the front wheel, and a dual-piston Brembo Gold caliper handled the rear wheel.

In the power department, the 2009 Aprilia Tuono 1000 R had installed a 998cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine, boasting 139 hp at 9,500 rpm and 107 Nm (79 lb-ft) torque at 8,500 rpm.
