APRILIA Tuono 1000 (2002-2003) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Aprilia Tuono 1000 was a naked machine produced by Aprilia in 2002, based on the Aprilia RSV Mille. In addition, it shared the same engine, transmission, frame, and some of the suspension components with the RSV 1000 R superbike.

Over its production period, the bike received numerous changes, retaining the same character as the first model produced. It was designed as a streetfighter complemented by countless electronic aids, such as multi-level traction control, ABS, wheelie control, launch control, and Aprilia Quick Shift (AQS).

In 2002, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer released the Aprilia Tuono 1000, a naked streetfighter-styled motorcycle with a high handlebar that offered excellent control. The bike was presented at the 2002 Intermot show.

Visually, the bike had standard features, such as a front cowl with a large multi-reflector headlight unit, a small windscreen, a two-piece dual seat, a two-into-one exhaust system with an oversized muffler mounted on the right side, and five-spoke cast-aluminum wheels.

It was built around a box-section twin-spar aluminum frame with a 43 mm upside-down Ohlins fork with 120 mm of travel on the front and an aluminum swingarm tied to an adjustable Boge shock absorber with 135 mm of travel on the rear.

As for the power figures, the 2002 Aprilia Tuono 1000 had installed a 998cc four-stroke V-twin liquid-cooled engine underneath its fuel tank, delivering an output power of 126 hp at 9,500 rpm and 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) torque at 7,250 rpm.
