APRILIA SX 50 (2013-2014) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2013, the Italian motorcycle maker introduced the Aprilia SX 50, a small displacement entry-level supermoto best suited for younger and beginner riders but also for 16-year-olds in the restricted version.

The Aprilia SX 50 was a supermotard motorcycle produced by Aprilia since 2006 alongside the RX 50 model. The bike was powered by a single-cylinder, two-stroke engine made by Derbi/Piaggio.

Both machines came as the revised successors of the Aprilia RX 50 manufactured in 1992. The bike's layout and panels were closely based on the larger displacement Aprilia RXV and SXV models.

In the visual department, the 2013 model was similar to previous ones, featuring the same standard features, such as a high-mounted front fender, a small cowl with a single headlight, a one-piece dual seat, a dual-sided swingarm, a high-mounted exhaust system, and wire-spoke wheels with black rims and road-tires.

The motorcycle was built around a steel beam frame with a 40 mm telescopic fork on the front with 195 mm wheel travel and a hydraulic single shock absorber on the rear with 180 mm of travel, offering optimum suspension performance and handling capabilities.

As for power, the 2013 Aprilia SX 50 had its heartbeat set by a 49cc two-stroke liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine underneath its fuel tank. The engine was fed by a Dell'Orto carburetor and sent the power to the rear wheel via a six-speed manual transmission.
