APRILIA Sportcity Cube 250 (2008-2009) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2008, the Italian motorcycle maker introduced the Aprilia Sportcity Cube 250, a quarter-liter scooter created for those riders searching for a way to travel through the city but could also handle occasional highway hauls.

The classic Sportcity received a restyling and was renamed Cube. In addition, the scooter received the new (at the time) Piaggio 300ie engine that replaced the previous 250cc. It was also used on the VespaGTS and delivered the same power and torque.

The scooter had standard features in the visual department, such as a dual headlight system, a small front cowl with a small wind deflector, a one-piece dual seat with passenger grab rails, a luggage rack, a single exhaust system with a silencer mounted on the right-hand side, and six-spoke lightweight aluminum wheels.

The 2008 Aprilia Sportcity Cube 250 was powered by a 244cc four-stroke single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that delivered an output power of 22 hp with a peak force at 8,000 rpm and 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) torque at 6,500 rpm.

The engine was coupled to an automatic transmission with a centrifugal dry clutch that sent the power to the rear wheel through a primary V-belt drive and a final gear drive.

The scooter's front end was controlled by a 35 mm telescopic fork acting as suspension and two 260 mm brake discs acting as stopping power. Two adjustable shock absorbers and a 220 mm stainless steel disc handled the rear end.
