APRILIA SL 1000 Falco (2004-2005) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Aprilia SL 1000 Falco, also known as the Aprilia SL Mille, was a sports bike made by Aprilia from 1999 to 2005. The bike was powered by a detuned 998cc V-twin Rotax engine derived from the RSV Mille model.

The SL 1000 Falco was a sporty half-faired motorcycle that competed in the market against the Honda VTR1000 and Suzuki TL1000S. The bike proved powerful and reliable, but the sales could have been better. The production ceased in 2003, but sales continued into 2004.

In 2004, the Italian bike maker introduced for the sixth consecutive year the Aprilia SL 1000 Falco, a sports-touring-oriented motorcycle that offered a more comfortable riding position and a lower-tuned engine than its sports-oriented cousin RSV Mille.

The motorcycle came equipped with the same standard features as the previous model, like a half-fairing, a single headlight unit, a windscreen, a single seat with a passenger seat cover and grab rails, a dual exhaust system with a silencer on each side, and five-spoke alloy wheels.

Power-wise, the 2004 Aprilia SL 1000 Falco took its muscles from a 998cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine assisted by an Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system, delivering 118 hp at 9,250 rpm and 95 Nm (70 lb-ft) torque at 7,000 rpm.

The bike's power was handled by a six-speed manual transmission that sent it to the rear end via a final chain drive, pushing the motorcycle to a top speed of 250 kph (156 mph).
