APRILIA RST 1000 Futura (2001-2002) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Aprilia RST 1000 Futura was a sport-touring motorcycle manufactured by Aprilia between 2001 and 2004. The bike was powered by a V-twin four-stroke liquid-cooled engine with a fuel injection system, broadly similar to the one used on the Aprilia SL1000 Falco.

The bike featured hard-shelled panniers and was intended to compete with the similarly styled Honda VFR800. Unfortunately, the bike's poor sales and Aprilia's bad financial status led to the bike's demise in 2003, remaining in the range until 2005.

In 2001, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer released the Aprilia RST 1000 Futura, a sport-touring motorcycle designed for riders who wanted to spend as much time as possible behind bars. In addition, the bike was available with a wide range of accessories that increased its long-haul capabilities.

The bike was built around a twin-spar aluminum frame that housed the suspension system, which comprised a 43 mm upside-down adjustable Showa fork on the front with 120 mm wheel travel and an adjustable shock absorber on the rear.

The bike's wheels were equipped with two 320 mm brake discs on the front and a 255 mm brake disc on the rear. The front discs were coupled to two-piston calipers as the one from the rear, delivering optimum braking performance.

As for the power figures, the 2001 Aprilia RST 1000 Futura had its soul brought to life by a 998cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine that delivered an output power of 113 hp at 9,250 rpm and 96 Nm (71 lb-ft) torque at 7,250 rpm.
