APRILIA Leonardo ST/SP 250 (2003-2004) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2003, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer released the Aprilia Leonardo ST/SP 250, a larger displacement model than its siblings, delivering more power, torque, and even more fun riding on the busy city streets.

The Aprilia Leonardo was a low-wheel scooter produced by Aprilia in 1997, continuing production until 2007. The scooter was available in three engine displacements, 125, 150, 250, and 300cc.

Power-wise, the 2003 Aprilia Leonardo ST/SP 250 had its soul brought to life by a 249cc four-stroke liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that delivered an output power of 14 hp (19 hp ST version) and 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) torque at 6,000 rpm.

The power generated by the engine was redirected to the rear end via a CVT transmission with a dry, centrifugal automatic clutch with a final belt drive, pushing the scooter to a top speed of 127 kph (79 mph).

The scooter's suspension system comprised a 35 mm hydraulic telescopic fork on the front with 90 mm wheel travel and two hydraulic shock absorbers on the rear with 104 mm of travel.

As for the braking power, the machine packed two 220 mm discs, one front and one rear. The front one was tied to a dual-piston caliper, and the rear one was tied to a dual-piston caliper as well, offering optimum stopping performance.

Visually, the scooter packed standard fittings such as a single headlight unit, a body covered in fairings, a medium-sized windscreen, a one-piece dual seat, a single exhaust system with a silencer mounted on the right-hand side, and five-spoke alloy wheels.
