In 2009, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Aprilia Dorsoduro 750, a supermotard machine in the second production year that packed the exact technical, visual, and performance specifications as the previous model without any modifications.

The Dorsoduro 750 was presented at the 2007 EICMA Show in Milan and released into the market in 2008. It was based on the Shiver 750 machine, sharing the same frame and engine but a different suspension tuning.

The motorcycle was launched in 2008 as a first foray into the maxi-moto class. Unlike Aprilia's supermoto designs, the Dorsoduro packed features common to touring and standard bikes, such as an optional ABS and adjustable throttle mapping.

The aesthetic department had standard fittings, such as 12-spoke alloy wheels, an under-seat-mounted exhaust system, a one-piece dual seat, a high-mounted front fender, and a small front cowl with a single headlight unit.

It was built around a modular steel trellis frame with a 43 mm inverted fork on the front end with 120 mm wheel travel and an adjustable single shock absorber on the rear with 160 mm of travel.

The 2009 Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 had its soul brought to life by a 749cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine mounted underneath the fuel tank, boasting 95 hp at 9,000 rpm and 81 Nm (60 lb-ft) torque at 7,000.
