Segment: Supermotard
Production years: 2010, 2011
In 2007, at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Aprilai presented the Dorsoduro 750, the first model in the series. The series comprised the Dorsoduro 750 model, the Dorsoduro 1200 version introduced in 2010, and the Dorsoduro 900 released in 2017.
The bikes were named after the Dorsoduro region of Venice, whose name translates to hard ridge. In addition, all motorcycles had similar appearances but very few common elements and were powered by a V-twin engine.
In 2010, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200, the larger displacement machine of the series, which, despite the common name, actually shared a few parts with the Dorsoduro 750 model.
In addition, the Dorsoduro 1200 version had more in common with the Aprilia Caponord 1200 made from 2013 until the present (2023). Also, the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 was the only Dorsoduro model in 2016.
The bike was built around a modular tubular steel frame with a 43 mm inverted, fully adjustable Sachs fork on the front with 160 mm of travel and a fully adjustable Sachs shock absorber on the rear with 155 mm of travel.
As for power, the 2010 Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 had installed a 1,197cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine underneath the fuel tank, delivering an output power of 131 hp with maximum strength at 8,700 rpm and 115 Nm (85 lb-ft) torque at 7,200 rpm.
