APRILIA Atlantic 500 (2004-2005) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Aprilia Atlantic was a mid-to-high-end scooter produced by Aprilia from late 2001 until 2014. Some similar models from other manufacturers included the Yamaha XMAX, Suzuki Burgman, Piaggio X9, and Piaggio X10.

The scooter was developed by Aprilia and Marabese Design and was introduced in late 2001 in the 500cc version. It was Aprilia's maxi scooter and the top model for performance and comfort.

In 2004, the Italian motorcycle maker released the Aprilia Atlantic 500, the largest displacement model of the range. Two main qualities that gave the Aprilia Atlantic an advantage over its rivals were its predictable handling and relatively low price.

In the visual department, the 2004 model had standard fittings, such as a body covered with fairings, a single large headlight, a tall windscreen, a two-up seat with passenger grab rails and backrest, a side stand, and five-spoke aluminum wheels.

For suspension, the scooter packed a 35 mm hydraulic telescopic fork on the front with 105 mm of travel and two five-position spring preload-adjustable shock absorbers on the rear with 90 mm of travel.

The scooter's 14-inch wheels were fitted with two 260 mm brake rotors on the front and three-piston calipers, and a 220 mm brake disc with a dual-piston caliper, acting as braking performance.

As for power, the 2004 Aprilia Atlantic 500 had its heartbeat set by a 460cc four-stroke liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that delivered 37 hp at 6,750 rpm and 42 Nm (31 lb-ft) torque at 5,500 rpm.
