APRILIA Atlantic 500 (2001-2002) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Aprilia Atlantic was a mid-to-high-end low-wheel scooter manufactured by Aprilia from late 2001 and continued production until 2014. Some similar models from other manufacturers included the Yamaha XMAX, Suzuki Burgman, Piaggio X9, and Piaggio X10.

The scooter was developed by Aprilia and Marabese Design and was introduced in late 2001 in the 500cc version. It was Aprilia's maxi scooter and the top model for performance and comfort.

The scooter's visual department was characterized by standard features, such as a body covered with fairings, a single large headlight, a tall windscreen, a two-up seat with passenger grab rails and backrest, a side stand, and five-spoke aluminum wheels.

The machine was built around a steel frame with a 40 mm telescopic fork on the front that delivered 105 mm of travel and two adjustable shock absorbers on the rear that provided 90 mm travel.

As for the braking power, the scooter relied on two 260 mm brake rotors mounted on the front wheel coupled to three-piston calipers. In contrast, the rear wheel was controlled by a 220 mm disc with a dual-piston caliper.

Regarding power, the 2001 Aprilia Atlantic 500 had installed a 460cc four-stroke liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine underneath its fairing, boasting 39 hp at 7,250 rpm and 41 Nm (30 lb-ft) torque at 5,500 rpm.
