W205 C63 AMG Testing on the Nordschleife

Yesterday we showed you a few spy photos of the future generation of the C 63 AMG while being tested somewhere in Germany. Now it's time to see what looks like the same car doing laps on the famed Nordschleife section of the Nurburgring.

To be based on the upcoming fourth generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the AMG model will unfortunately replace its fire-spitting 6.2-liter normally aspirated V8. We are saddened because the M156/M159 is probably one of our favorite German engines ever, with one of the most hair-raising sounds of any series production V8.

The engine it will be replaced with shouldn't be too bad, though. According to some reports, the four-liter twin turbocharged V8 with direct injection might be based on two M133 four-cylinder from the A 45 AMG bonded together to form a V8, which would make its output rise upwards of 700 hp with no major internal modifications, while its fuel consumption to be lower than on the M156.

The C63 will have a 480+ hp version of the engine with about 700 Nm (516 lb ft) of torque, giving the car enough oomph to keep up with quite a lot of supercars on a straight line - including the baby-SLS, codenamed C190, which will share its V8. For the twisties and dragster-like accelerations from a stop there might also be a 4Matic all-wheel drive version and even an S-Model, like on its bigger brothers in the AMG four-door lineup.
